Kansas City Royals Team Roster

By Kansas City Royals Baseball Tickets Staff Writer: A. Hintz

The Kansas City Royals' 2012 opening-day team payroll was 70% higher than it was at the same time last season, increasing to $61 million.

The Royals' highest paid player is designated-hitter Billy Butler, who is earning a sleek $8.5 million this 2012 Royals season. Starting right-fielder Jeff Francoeur is the next highest-paid Royal, at $6.75 million.

Along with the increased payroll, the Kansas City Royals are looking to the talented young players on the team. First-baseman Eric Hosmer, third-baseman Mike Moustakas and outfielder Lorenzo Cain are likely to be big contributors.

Despite the young talent and increased payroll, the Royals will continue to play small-market baseball. Big things will come from this small Royals 40-man roster. Just wait and see!
